White looks good on almost everyone. It's crisp, it's bright, and as long as you didn't have a mishap during lunch, it always looks really clean. But whenever Labor Day rolls around, I dutifully pack up my white wedges like the fashion fiends say I should.

But as more and more fall and winter fashions are previewed and set out on the shelves at the malls, I'm seeing more of this hue Granted, sandals aren't very practical when there is frost on the ground, but I've found several options for the upcoming seasonal change that still suit my fancy for wearing white.

With the right outfit, these white suede boots from Saks Fifth Avenue are really sharp. Suede is a material that is usually reserved for the chillier seasons, so it's a perfect way to channel the upcoming snow. Knowing Missouri, that could possibly be tomorrow, so start thinking about shopping for some fall/winter white today.

This Free People Kit Bubble Sleeve Cardigan (at right) from Blush Boutique in Kirkwood is chunky and fun. With jeans, this would be a great winter white for a hayride, and it's warm enough to work for those bitter winter months, too. At $168, it's a little on the pricey side, but wool/acrylic blends like this one usually wear very well. Just make sure you moth-proof it when you put it away after winter; I don't think I'm the only one who has lost a favorite comfy sweater to moth holes.

But fall/winter white doesn't have to be so expensive. Click here for a similar cardigan for only $26.90 from Forever 21's Heritage 1981 line.

The pleats in this soft, cable knit skirt give this sweater skirt from Old Navy a really wearable look. You can dress it up or down all fall, and if you add tights and tall leather boots, it will become a winter staple. Any bright cardigan will go great with it, and the elastic waist will allow some room for those holiday feasts. Just make sure you're not thrown off by the questionable product description (its color is labeled as "powdered milk"). This sweater dress is another fun white for colder weather from Old Navy.

If you're feeling a little more timid about wearing white from Labor Day on, try out something simple, like this leather purse from Coach (available in brass/white). This Hobo Purse from The Limited is pretty fashionable, too; the crocodile makes it tough enough for cold weather, and it's 30% off.
