]]>When you're Paul McCartney-its hard to fly under the radar. Paul and his new girlfriend-Nancy Shevell-are reportedly taking a road trip across America. We had a listener yesterday who called and said a friend of her's saw Paul at a restaurant in Branson. I've also heard stories that Paul was seen at a Circle K in Springfield Illinois(see picture)--and--right here in St Louis at Union Station.
Supposedly-Paul and his chick are following Route 66 to California. They are said to be traveling in an old Ford Bronco. The vacation across America was said to be Nancy's idea--a way of them getting to bond and spend time together.
Who is Nancy Shevell ? She is an American business woman--a very successful business woman-who recently split from her husband-who was a very weathly lawyer. Nancy is said to be a multi-millionaire so it looks like she's not after Paul's money--like some women may be. Say--ooooohhhhhh--Heather Mills for example.
]]>"It's like sing-along with Skynyrd night," said guitarist Gary Rossington, one of the original members of the band that launched to stardom more than three decades ago.
Rossington, 56, said he's grateful people still appreciate the group's music after all these years. The band first performed "Free Bird" in public in 1970 in Jacksonville, Fla., where the original band members grew up and got their start.
"To see fans singing our songs and loving them and dancing or crying to some of them, it feels like the first time you ever played it," he said. "It really gets to you, like day one."
The band was one of the most popular rock groups at the time of the Oct. 20, 1977, plane crash near McComb, Miss., that claimed the lives of six people, including the band's lead singer Ronnie Van Zant.
Rossington was among those on board.
"After the crash, we just couldn't play," he said.
It was 10 years before the group decided to hit the touring circuit again. They launched a comeback tribute tour in 1987, and have since co-headlined tours with ZZ Top, Bad Company, Free and others. It would be another four years before the group made it to Baton Rouge, their destination at the time of the crash.
Rossington said one of his most memorable tours was before the plane crash — with The Who in 1973. Rossington's birthday (Dec. 4, 1951) fell during the tour, and The Who's guitarist Peter Townshend smashed a cake in his face just before he was to take the stage.
"I had to get on stage with cake all over me," he said, laughing.
Rossington said the decision to launch the summer tour in New Orleans stemmed from the group's history with the city and desire to help its recovery from Hurricane Katrina.
"We're not the kind to come in and start building houses and stuff, but we're bringing our music there," he said. "In our early days, that was one of our favorite places to play and eat red beans and rice. With everything that's happened, it just seemed a great place to start off."

]]>Last Friday-we had our company picnic and I was introducted to a new lawn game. Some called in Ladder Golf-others were calling it Redneck Golf. Others said it was Hillbilly Golf. Someone else said Cornhole Golf. Whatever its called-its fun and can be played by adults and kids alike.
What you do is toss a Bolo-which is a piece of rope with a golf balls attached to both ends-toward a ladder made-usually-from PVC plastic pipes. You try to get your bolo wrapped around one of the rungs. Your score depends on which rung you wrap around.
Its really a good alternative to washers if you're kinda burnt out on that game.

I just got word from Community Living that more than $21,000 was raised that night. They do such great work with disabled adults in St Charles County. It was our pleasure helping out.
Come out to the event next year and see me do more 'trick shots' like in the photo to the right ! :)
]]>He is one of St Louis' best all time professional athletes--and probably the least known. On August 13th he will get some well-deserved recognition as he will receive his star on the St Louis Walk of Fame in the Loop.
I'm talking about Bob Pettit. Ever heard of him ? Probably not. You see Bob Pettit played for the St Louis Hawks--an NBA team that moved to Atlanta in the late 60's. Pettit retired in 1965 and he's lived in his native Baton Rouge Louisiana ever since.
But get a load of these stats. Pettit was an 11 time NBA All-Star and a 2 time NBA MVP. He was the NBA All-Star Game MVP 4 times. He lead the league in scoring twice and was always in the top 5 in rebounds. And Bob Pettit was the first NBA player to score 20-thousand points.
Too bad Pettit's accomplishments here in St Louis have been forgotten-and thanks to the walk of fame people for remembering him.
]]>Tawny went on to co-host America's Funniest People with Dave Coulier and was a star of The New WKRP in Cincinnati. She appeared in episodes of Seinfeld and Married... with Children.
Kitaen's marriage to Whitesnake's David Coverdale ended in 1991 and she dated the likes of Tommy Lee, O.J. Simpson, Jerry Seinfeld and Jon Stewart until she married baseball pitcher (former Cardinal) Chuck Finley in 1997. On April 1, 2002, she was arrested and charged with domestic abuse for attacking Chuck WHILE HE WAS DRIVING. Tawny reportedly kicked Finley with her high heeled boots and severely twisted his ear. Chuck filed for divorce three days later.
In November of 2006, Tawny was arrested and charged with possession of 15 grams of cocaine. She entered rehab one month later. As far as I know, she has stayed out of trouble since then.
Tawny Kitaen turns 47 today.
