  • The Shout! Bookmarklet:

Drag the Shout It! picture below to your shortcut bar for a quick and easy way to shout the page you are on no matter what random corner of the internet you may be at (oh, and your secret is safe with us)!
    Shout This!
  • Popular RSS Feeds:

You can get an RSS Feed (What is an RSS feed?) for any page in Shout! by looking at the top of a modern browser (Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer 7+) and clicking on the feed icon, but if you want a quick reference of some of the most popular feeds for Shout, click on any of the links in the list below:

  • Shout Button Wordpress Plugin:

The Wordpress plugin will automatically put a cute little Shout This! button below each and every one of your blog posts. If your post has already been submitted, it will show the current total number of points it has received from Shouts! users. See below for an example:

Download the plugin at the official Wordpress plugin page: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/shout-this-button

Install the plugin: Simply unzip the file and copy the shout_bttn.php file over to your plugins directory (wp-content/plugins). Thats it! If you want to turn the buttons off, you can do this at the setting page and then click on Shout Button link at the top.

Some blogs that are using the plugin already: Hell Yeah B*tch! .com

  • Shout Buttons for those not on Wordpress:

There's no plugin for you, but its still super easy! All you have to do is add the following code to your site's template and replace the YOUR_POST_URL with the URL of the page its on. You can copy the code below: Easy huh?

  • Basic API Calls:

Shout has launched with a basic, no authentication needed, API.

There is more to come, but currently the Shout endpoint @ http://toastedrav.com/shout/index will accept the GET variables:

    • category :: This is the "slug" of one of more categories (comma delimited) you wish to limit your list to, eg "category=funnies,election2008" (defaults to "all")
    • status :: This accepts 1 of 2 strings, "new" or "popular" that correlate to whether or not the Shout! has been promoted to the home page of Shout! (defaults to "new"
    • type :: This takes string that correlate to the types of Shouts, eg "video", "photo", "story", "post" or "all" (defaults to "all")
    • format :: This defines how you want the list returned to you, "rss", "atom", or "json". By leaving this off, you get the FULL HTML page.
