As we say goodbye to summer, we welcome what, to me, is the most beautiful time of the year in and around St. Louis...Autumn. The crisp air makes way for beautiful foliage, and a great time to discover (or re-discover) all the colors of fall through walking and hiking trails throughout our area. We really are blessed with a bounty of places to witness the changing leaves and now is the time to do it, before it gets too cold to want to venture outside.
I discovered a really great website for finding from easy to difficult local hikes. Think of taking a romantic date out for a sunset stroll on the Hawk Ridge Trail in Ballwin, or take the kiddies and help them discover nature (not from the Discovery Channel!) on an easy hike around the loop at Laumeier Sculpture Park.
There are plenty of walks and hikes to choose from. Hit up the website and take your pick! http://www.localhikes.com/Default.asp
I happen to love Creve Coeur Lake. You can take a well maintained walk around the entire lake, or just walk part of the way. You might get lucky and see some champion rowers practicing their craft. Also, across from the lake are beautiful picnic areas and some very challenging stairs to climb! But don't stop in the middle! You'll be rewarded at the top with yet another park and playground equipment for the little ones! CLICK THE VIDEO TAB ABOVE! Meet my new friends Roger, D and Ali at the stairs at Creve Coeur! So get off the couch and head outside to enjoy some of our areas treasures! And if you know of any hidden hikes that you'd like to share, please do!
now if only i could get my lazy a** out there.. that would defintlely be a fun way to work out.. also a great family activity!
i had no idea hiking was so popular in this area!
