Earlier this week I was enjoying tuna and Saltines at around 8am (I can eat anything at any time of day) and we started talking about how it's impossible to eat six Saltines in one minute. I mentioned on-air about viewing an episode of Food Detectives on the subject. Three volunteers differing in age and size couldn't finish the crackers (without a drink) in the allotted time.
We then got a call from a listener named Robyn Marlen. She claimed her husband Mike can not only eat six Saltines in a minute, but, he once gobbled up nine of 'em! She went on to say that her entire family tried the Saltines Challenge last Thanksgiving. No one could accomplish the feat except for Mike. I should've asked her if they tried the challenge before or after Turkey-Day dinner.
Don't get me wrong. I believe Robyn, but, I think we'd all enjoy seeing Mike in action. So, here's my request. I'd like Robyn and Mike's family to try the Saltines Challenge again this Thanksgiving, but, this time record it and send it to me. I think it would quickly become the most viewed clip on our website. Or, YOU try it. The setup is simple... chew and swallow six Saltines in one minute without a drink.
By the way, Robyn tells me that Mike is a biology professor at SWIC in Belleville.
I would enjoy seeing that challenge. But everyone knows 'premium' are superior to 'saltine' Way to embarrass your listeners... (:
