Despite being a bargain shopper, I rarely clip coupons. I have enough trouble remembering where my purse/phone/mind is without finding the time to search Sunday's newspaper, cut something out (without injuring myself) and remembering to bring it with me when I actually shop at that store.
Last week, while I was shopping in Walgreens sans said pain-in-the-butt coupons, I made my way over to the check-out counter with my armful of purchases. Some were not-so-necessary, like the new Revlon Matte Collection lipstick that I wanted to try out. As the nice lady at the counter was checking me out, she asked, "Oh, you know you can get a rebate for this lipstick, right?"
Well, rebates are great some of the time, but by the time I buy a stamp and find the time to mail it in, a dollar doesn't seem worth the hassle. This rebate, however, covered the cost of the entire lipstick. In fact, Walgreens will give you a rebate of up to $10 for anything in that entire collection.
It turns out that Walgreens has something called the EasySaver Catalog. Like a lot of convenience stores, they have them readily available at the actual store, which eliminates that tricky coupon clipping process, and the rebates are actually for lots of money. You can get up to $15 off Nicotine Gum if you're aiming to quit smoking, a free candy dish if you buy a certain amount of M&M's, $30 off a digital camera, a free bottle of Garnier shampoo or conditioner and tons of other stuff. Best of all, you can apply for your rebate online here, which is so much better than snail mail.
Thanks for the 100-percent-off lipstick Walgreens. You rock my cheapskate world.
