Spring cleaning time is almost upon us. We all know the drill - you make the piles of stuff to keep, stuff to pitch and stuff that goes to Goodwill. A word of advice for this Spring cleaning season: be sure you know where your giant wad of cash is before dropping off the 'To Goodwill' box.

In the last few months two different Illinois Goodwill locations have found wads of cash in their donation boxes, both amounting to five figures. KSDK.com is reporting

"The hunt continues for the owner of a large sum of money found this month at a Goodwill Industries store in Springfield.

Officials aren't offering many specifics about the money that turned up Feb. 4 in a box, other than to say the amount is was in the five figures."

Back in November Teodora Petrova found $7,500 while going through a donation box on her first day working at the Goodwill Store in Glen Carbon, Illinois. The accidental donator stepped up to claim his bills, which he had accidentally stashed in the donation box. Petrova got a reward, and they all lived happily ever after.

I am not sure if people in Illinois have a severe distrust of banks, or if this is some bizarre character and fitness test for Goodwill employees. In either case: if you live in Illinois I would be more than happy to deliver those Goodwill donation boxes in the future, free of charge.
