Everyone's home is full of bad but truly non-suspicious events, like eating take-out that is too old, doing laundry or dancing around the living room to Master P. A home explosion, however, doesn't typically fall into this "non-suspicious" category. I say typically because it evidently took some hard hitting investigation before the Fire Chief in Pontoon Beach figured that out. KSDK.com is reporting
There are new developments in the case of a house that exploded in a Pontoon Beach, Illinois subdivision Friday.
"Suspicious" - that's the way the Long Lake Fire Chief says investigators are now looking at the explosion that leveled one home and damaged at least 15 others early Friday.
The explosion leveled the home and even damaged Kenny Rodgers' home next door. Note that this is not the Kenny Rogers of the Kenny Rogers Roaster's fame - totally different spelling. Although, Rodgers told KSDK that the event was "sad," and I am sure if you asked Rogers he would say them same thing.
I am not a big-time fire investigator or anything, so the big question remaining is: what kind of home explosion is not suspicious?
There used to be a whole house here, but it took almost a week
for investigators to call it suspicious - really?

But...
Then I realized I couldn't blow up my guitars, much less my family pets. You can tell by the expression on the wife's face in the news footage that she is truly stunned and sickened. Hubs... I'm not so sure. But again, it takes a special kinda person to kill the family dog (lived) and the family cat (did not live).
Exhibit two: MAN! That mutherblanker house just dissolved! As theoretical arsons go, that would have been one spectacular feat! So how do you get that kind of boom... that much gas build up... without some kind of detonation device? You can't just deliberately sever the line to your gas drier and be certain you're gonna get the boom before you walk back into the house after work.
If there was a detonation device, it will be found. If it's not found, then I'm willing to score it as a freak accident.
