Going out to eat in Chesterfield Valley can be pretty overwhelming. Not only is it one of the largest expanses of commercialism in all of America, but there are more restaurants in that valley than most people could go out to eat to in an entire year. Normally, I stick with what I know until somebody gives me a reason to venture out and try another one of the gazillion eateries in that area. After dining at Mimi's Cafe last weekend, boy am I glad I did.
The large French country style front room and the crackling fire made for quite the entryway, the atmosphere in the dining room(s) was cozy and the menu was diverse. The other thing that I noticed was that almost every table was going crazy for the ginormous freshly baked muffins that they were being served with their entrees.
At first, it seemed pretty weird that these muffins came with salads and quiche as a side to my lunch, but after trying one of them for myself, I now understand why. They. Are. Awesome. The carrot and raisin one that I got at lunch was so fresh that it was practically steaming on the plate.
Mimi's serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. I can't wait to go back and try the Five-Alarm Santa Fe Omelette, especially if it's anywhere near as good as the Zesty Chicken Tostada Salad that my friend and I both devoured at lunch. Everything on the menu looks mouth-watering, and it caters to everyone from grown men to children.
But back to those amazin' muffins; if it's your first time eating at Mimi's - as long as you tell them - they send you home with four additional muffins. That's right, four free muffins just because they're that nice and they know that as soon as your friends and family try the baked goods that you're bringing home, they'll be heading to Mimi's for a few of their own.
After all was said and done, my friend mentioned that Mimi's Cafe was actually a chain. At first, I didn't believe her, because it was the most non-chain chain restaurant I have ever been to (and I mean that in a good way). Needless to say, the next time that you're driving through Chesterfield Valley and feel overwhelmed by all the restaurant choices, I recommend heading straight to Mimi's.
