Some people weren't that surprised when all three members of what used to be Blink-182 showed up together at the Grammy Awards earlier this month. After drummer Travis Barker's tragic plane crash last year, many speculated about whether or not his old band members would rally around him while he healed from the burns that covered most of his body.
I was glad that they met up for this photo op, but when they announced that Blink was back together as a band, I had to remind myself that tons of musicians and celebrities say things that they have no intention of actually following through with. I'm still not getting my hopes up, but soon after they made their announcement at the Grammys, they put up this message on their site:
"To put it simply, we're back. We mean, really back. Picking up where we left off and then some. In the studio writing and recording a new album. Preparing to tour the world yet again. Friendships re-formed. Seventeen years deep in our legacy. Summer 2009. Thanks and get ready..."
I went to a Blink concert seven years ago, and let me tell you, I have yet to see anther drummer and drum set that flipped upside down, especially one where the drummer kept playing. Sure, they've changed their sound a bit since they started out (some would even say that they've sold out), but I bet a lot of folks are anxious to hear their music this time around, too.
