In the plethora of Hallmark Card occasions there is one that stands above the rest. Created by California blogger Rob Kroese, Inappropriate Card Day is celebrated each February 26th and is your chance to bewilder your loved ones with greeting cards that make absolutely no sense. Kroese said, "The whole idea of the holiday is that it's the one day that greeting card companies can't capitalize on, because you can't intentionally create a card for Inappropriate Card Day. Because, you know, then it would be an appropriate card."

Though the name of this unofficial holiday may lead your mind into the gutter, he explained on his website

There are no rules. Well, except for the fact that the card has to be completely inappropriate -- and not risqué inappropriate; that's too easy. It has to be a card that would be perfectly appropriate for someone other than the recipient, preferably on a completely different day.

A few St. Louisans are getting in on the act and trolling the greeting card isles for weird and awkward greetings to hand to their loved ones. It was St. Louis blogger Patrick D. who first brought the occasion to ToastedRav's attention. We asked Patrick why Inappropriate Card Day was so important to him

Inappropriate Card Day is a great holiday for the lazy and uninspired or for those with unused greeting cards in a drawer. On what other holiday can you give your female co-worker a 'You're a Great Grandson' card or your wife a 'Hope You Had A Great Bar Mitzvah' card? It's awesome.

There is still plenty of time left in the day to stop by a gas station or drug store and find bizarre greetings to share with your loved ones.

Happy Inappropriate Card Day, from ToastedRav!
